It’s been another very busy and exciting month here at Gites Rue Du Chateau. It was a lovely and unexpected moment when Marinette and members of her family popped by. Marinette, 80 years old, was born in the main house we are going to be renovating. She lived here until she was 15 years old and was able to tell us a little about the history of the property, from the Germans camping in our woodland to one of the Gites, Garden View, being owned by a young Pharmacist. She remembered the townspeople washing their clothes in our Lavoir and her father using stilts to cross the stream. Truly lovely to hear a little of the history…. Garden View is nowadays away from being finished and we will hopefully be testing it next week and will go live the following week. I have been busy upcycling furniture and having a really good go at this Shabby Chic thing and I think that the cottage is finally coming together. We have had a healthy flow of bookings for next summer and a steady flow of guests in our Bumblebee cottage and have guests in Lavender Cottage next week… so not a bad start. Bishy (Quad bike) has now got her spots and we have even managed a couple of lunch dates with our new friends Ciara and Fraser… and look forward to many more relaxing lunches to come...
